1Chronicles 18

1.After this it happened, that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. 2.He struck Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute. 3.David struck Hadadezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. 4.David took from him one thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. 5.When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians twenty-two thousand men. 6.Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 7.David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8.From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much brass, with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass. 9.When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10.he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him; (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou;) and he had with him all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 11.King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. 12.Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand. 13.He put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. 14.David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people. 15.Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16.and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe; 17.and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

1Chronicles 19

1.It happened after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place. 2.David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me."

So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him. 3.But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, "Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven't his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?" 4.So Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away. 5.Then there went certain persons, and told David how the men were served. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, "Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return."

6.When the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent one thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Arammaacah, and out of Zobah. 7.So they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his people, who came and encamped before Medeba. The children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle. 8.When David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the army of the mighty men. 9.The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city: and the kings who had come were by themselves in the field. 10.Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians. 11.The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and they put themselves in array against the children of Ammon. 12.He said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you. 13.Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God. May Yahweh do that which seems good to him."

14.So Joab and the people who were with him drew near before the Syrians to the battle; and they fled before him. 15.When the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem. 16.When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head. 17.It was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came on them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him. 18.The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrians the men of seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the army. 19.When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David, and served him: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.

Ezekiel 30

1.The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying, 2.Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Wail, Alas for the day! 3.For the day is near, even the day of Yahweh is near; it shall be a day of clouds, a time of the nations. 4.A sword shall come on Egypt, and anguish shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt; and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down. 5.Ethiopia, and Put, and Lud, and all the mixed people, and Cub, and the children of the land that is allied with them, shall fall with them by the sword. 6.Thus says Yahweh: They also who uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Seveneh shall they fall in it by the sword, says the Lord Yahweh. 7.They shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate; and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. 8.They shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and all her helpers are destroyed. 9.In that day shall messengers go forth from before me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid; and there shall be anguish on them, as in the day of Egypt; for, behold, it comes. 10.Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease, by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 11.He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought in to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain. 12.I will make the rivers dry, and will sell the land into the hand of evil men; and I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I, Yahweh, have spoken it. 13.Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause the images to cease from Memphis; and there shall be no more a prince from the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt. 14.I will make Pathros desolate, and will set a fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments on No. 15.I will pour my wrath on Sin, the stronghold of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No. 16.I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be broken up; and Memphis [shall have] adversaries in the daytime. 17.The young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword; and these [cities] shall go into captivity. 18.At Tehaphnehes also the day shall withdraw itself, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her power shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity. 19.Thus will I execute judgments on Egypt; and they shall know that I am Yahweh. 20.It happened in the eleventh year, in the first [month], in the seventh [day] of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 21.Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and behold, it has not been bound up, to apply [healing] medicines, to put a bandage to bind it, that it be strong to hold the sword. 22.Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong [arm], and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand. 23.I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. 24.I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man. 25.I will hold up the arms of the king of Babylon; and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am Yahweh, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out on the land of Egypt. 26.I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.

Galatians 5

1.Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2.Behold, I, Paul, tell you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing. 3.Yes, I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4.You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace. 5.For we, through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness. 6.For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love. 7.You were running well! Who interfered with you that you should not obey the truth? 8.This persuasion is not from him who calls you. 9.A little yeast grows through the whole lump. 10.I have confidence toward you in the Lord that you will think no other way. But he who troubles you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.

11.But I, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been removed. 12.I wish that those who disturb you would cut themselves off. 13.For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. 14.For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."11 15.But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don't consume one another. 16.But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17.For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. 18.But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19.Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20.idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21.envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

22.But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,12 23.gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24.Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25.If we live by the Spirit, let's also walk by the Spirit. 26.Let's not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another.

Galatians 6

1.Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren't tempted. 2.Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3.For if a man thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4.But let each man test his own work, and then he will take pride in himself and not in his neighbor. 5.For each man will bear his own burden. 6.But let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches. 7.Don't be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8.For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9.Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. 10.So then, as we have opportunity, let's do what is good toward all men, and especially toward those who are of the household of the faith.

11.See with what large letters I write to you with my own hand. 12.As many as desire to look good in the flesh, they compel you to be circumcised; only that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13.For even they who receive circumcision don't keep the law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may boast in your flesh. 14.But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15.For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16.As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God's Israel. 17.From now on, let no one cause me any trouble, for I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus branded on my body.

18.The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.
